Absence is data
Every source is a selection. What was left out was left out for a reason — sometimes innocent, sometimes not.
Read for the missing pieces
- Costs — what does this actually take in money, time, and skill?
- Failure cases — who tried this and did not get the result?
- Timeframe — how long before the promised outcome shows up?
- Preconditions — what did the author already have that you may not?
Turning gaps into next steps
A gap is not a verdict. It is a task. For each missing piece, write the cheapest way to close it: a search, a question to one person, a small test.
You do not need certainty. You need to know which unknowns can hurt you.
